GTA REALTORS® Release Monthly Resale Housing Market Figures
December 6, 2011 -- Greater Toronto REALTORS® reported 7,092 residential transactions through the TorontoMLS® system in November – up 11 per cent in comparison to November 2010. At the same time, the number of new listings was up by 14 per cent in comparison to last year.



GTA Commercial REALTORS® Report Commercial Market Figures
December 6, 2011 -- Toronto Real Estate Board Commercial Division Members leased 574,499 square feet of industrial space through the TorontoMLS system in November 2011. This result represented a small decline of two per cent compared to the November 2010 figure of 587,274 square feet. Over three quarters of the total leased space was accounted for by industrial properties.



Public Support for Land Transfer Tax Repeal is Resilient, According to Poll

GTA REALTORS® Report Mid-Month Resale Housing Market Figures
November 16, 2011 -- Greater Toronto REALTORS® reported 3,379 transactions through the TorontoMLS® during the first two weeks of November.  This result represented more than a 13 per cent increase compared to November 2010.  New listings were up 16 per cent over the same period.



Toronto Real Estate Board's Response To CREA's Participation In Competition Tribunal Proceedings
November 3, 2011 -- The Toronto Real Estate Board (TREB) was pleased by the decision of the Competition Tribunal of Canada to allow an application by The Canadian Real Estate Association (CREA) to participate in the Competition Commissioner's application to the Tribunal. In doing so, the Tribunal rejected the position of the Competition Commissioner, who sought to have CREA barred from participating in the proceedings.



GTA REALTORS® Release Resale Market Figures
November 3, 2011 -- Greater Toronto REALTORS® reported 7,642 home sales through the TorontoMLS® in October 2011. This represented an increase of 17.5 per cent compared to the 6,504 transactions reported in October 2010.



GTA Commercial REALTORS® Report October Commercial Figures
November 3, 2011 -- Toronto Real Estate Board Commercial Division Members reported a combined 445,501 square feet of leased industrial, commercial and office space through the TorontoMLS® system in October 2011 - down by a third compared to October 2010. Of the total space leased, industrial property types accounted for 371,755 square feet - down 31 per cent compared to October 2010.



GTA REALTORS® Release New Quarterly Condo Market Report
October 19, 2011 -- Greater Toronto REALTORS® reported 5,770 condominium apartment transactions through the TorontoMLS® system in the third quarter of 2011, representing a 24 per cent increase over the same period in 2010. The average selling price increased by almost nine per cent to $333,352.

GTA REALTORS® Release Mid-Month Resale Market Figures
October 18, 2011 -- Greater Toronto REALTORS® reported 3,477 transactions through the TorontoMLS® system during the first 14 days of October 2011. This total represented a 20 per cent increase over 2,890 sales reported during the first two weeks of October 2010. Year-over-year growth in new listings for the same period was slightly stronger than that recorded for sales - up 21 per cent to 6,249.



REALTORS® Remind City Council that Land Transfer Tax is Unpredictable Revenue Stream
October 7, 2011 -- In a letter to Mayor Ford and City Councillors, the Toronto Real Estate Board is reminding City Council that the Toronto Land Transfer Tax is an unpredictable revenue stream, and that the only fair solution to the City's financial challenges is a combination of responsible fiscal management and fair revenues, like property taxes and user fees.

October 5, 2011 -- Greater Toronto REALTORS® reported 7,658 transactions through the TorontoMLS® system in September - a 25 per cent increase over September 2010. Sales during the first three quarters of 2011 amounted to 70,588, representing a 2.6 per cent increase compared to the first nine months of 2010.



TREB Commercial REALTORS® Report Quarterly Commercial Market Figures
October 5, 2011 -- Toronto Real Estate Board (TREB) Commercial Division Members leased almost 3.6 million square feet of commercial space through the TorontoMLS® system in the third quarter of 2011, representing a decline of almost 50 per cent in comparison to almost 6.6 million square feet leased during the same period in 2010.


Greater Toronto REALTORS® report March Resale Market Figures

April 6, 2010 -- Greater Toronto REALTORS® reported 10,430 sales through the Multiple Listing Service® (MLS®) in March, pushing total first quarter 2010 sales to 22,418 – the best result on record under the current Toronto Real Estate Board (TREB) boundaries. GTA REALTORS® Report February Resale Housing Market Figures

March 3, 2010 -- Greater Toronto REALTORS® reported 7,291 sales through the Multiple Listing Service® (MLS®) in February, representing a 77 per cent increase over February 2009. The average price for these transactions was up 19 per cent year-over-year to $431,509. Sales and average price increases represent both increased demand for ownership housing and the base year effect, which involves a comparison of economic recovery this year to a period of economic decline last year. March 3, 2010 -- Last month, TREB Commercial Members reported 606,076 square feet of leased space, a 28 per cent increase from the 472,663 leased square feet recorded in February of 2009. See details.

February 18, 2010 -- Last month, TREB Commercial Members reported 660,815 square feet of leased space. This result was a substantial increase compared to the 336,029 leased square feet recorded in January of 2009, when the rate of economic decline was greatest during the recent recession. Rental Transactions Up Again
 

February 3, 2010 -- From September through December 2009, TREB Members reported 3,859 lease transactions for condominium apartments and townhouses through the Multiple Listing Service (MLS®) – up 12 per cent from the 3,433 recorded during the same time in 2008. Condominium apartment transactions, which accounted for over 90 per cent of the total, were also up by 12 per cent. See details.


Sales Start Off Strong in 2010

February 3, 2010 -- Greater Toronto REALTORS® reported 4,986 transactions through the Multiple Listing Service (MLS®) in January 2010. This result represented a large increase over the 2,670 sales in January 2009 when the home sales were in a recessionary trough. See details.


Almost 6,000,000 Square Feet of Space Leased In 2009
 

January 19, 2010 -- TREB Commercial Members leased 5,829,559 square feet of space in 2009, including 334,290 square feet traded in December, Commercial Council Chair Garry Lander announced today. The 2009 figure was down 51 per cent from the 2008 total of 11,961,934. See details.


GTA REALTORS® Reporting January Mid-Month Housing Statistics

January 18, 2010 -- Greater Toronto REALTORS® reported 1,749 existing home sales on the Multiple Listing Service (MLS®) during the first two weeks of January. This result was almost double the 888 sales reported for the same period in 2009, when sales had dipped to a recessionary low. See Details.


GTA Resale Market Resilient in 2009

January 6, 2010 -- Greater Toronto REALTORS® reported 87,308 MLS® transactions in 2009 – a 17 per cent increase over 2008. This result included 5,541 sales in December. The 2009 result was in line with the healthy levels of sales experienced between 2004 and 2006, but lower than the record of 93,193 set in 2007. See details.


GTA REALTORS® Report December Mid-Month Resale Housing Market Figures

December 17, 2009 -- Greater Toronto REALTORS reported 3,079 existing home transactions in the first two weeks of December compared to 1,487 in 2008. The strong growth represents both increased home ownership demand and the fact that we are comparing the recovery phase of the sales cycle this December with the contraction phase experienced last winter. December 3, 2009 -- Greater Toronto REALTORS® reported 7,446 sales in November – slightly more than double the November 2008 result when GTA home sales had dipped markedly due to the economic downturn. Year-to-date sales were up 14 per cent compared to the first 11 months of 2008. See details.

Rental Transactions Up; Prices Trend Lower
 

October 5, 2009 -- During the latest reporting period, TREB Members reported 5,673 leased transactions, up 32 per cent from the 4,286 recorded during the same time-period in 2008. However, while volume increased, average rents fell in most categories. For example, one-bedroom apartments rented for an average of $1,439 per month, down 4 per cent from the $1,494 recorded during same period last year. Two bedroom apartment units rented for an average of $1,873, down 1 per cent from the $1,885 recorded during the May to August 2008 period. See details.

June 3, 2009 -- In the first four months of 2009, TREB members reported 3,945 leased condominium apartments, representing a 38% increase over the 2,854 units leased during the same period in 2008. Almost 93 per cent of all residential rental transactions on the MLS® involved condominium apartments.

May 6, 2009 -- In April 2009, Greater Toronto REALTORS® reported 8,107 sales – down seven per cent from April 2008. While April sales remained lower than last year, the resale housing market gained momentum on a month-over-month basis. February 5, 2009 -- TREB Members reported 2,670 sales in January from the 5,075 sales reported in the first month of 2008. TORONTO, January 19, 2009 -- Greater Toronto REALTORS® reported 888 sales during the first half of January compared to 1,776 in the first 15 days of 2008. “According to Statistics Canada the economic situation throughout Canada changed noticeably over the past year with job losses in the fourth quarter of 2008.
